A 15-year-old eighth grade student was stopped and apprehended yesterday just as he was about to stab his teacher at a school in the Aegean province of İzmir's Karabağlar district, private channel NTV has reported.

The incident began when the teacher from Rakım Erkutlu School reprimanded the student, who was only identified as C.E., in front of his friends. Embarrassed at the situation, C.E. ran out of the school while swearing at his teacher.

The boy quickly went home and returned with a knife, but was halted by other staff members when he was found searching for his teacher with the weapon. Personnel subsequently contacted the police.

The student and his teacher were both taken to a police station to give testimony.

C.E. was reportedly planning to emulate another 15-year-old in the district who recently stabbed and killed his teacher, Rabia Sevilay Durukan, at Nazire Merzeci School.

"I, too, will kill my teacher," C.E told the police.
