Leading figures from Turkey’s jet set gathered March 10 at Istanbul’s Pera Palace Hotel for the wedding of one of the country’s best known stand-up artists and actors, Cem Yılmaz, and model Ahu Yağtu.“We will try to be a model couple for you. We thank everyone for being with us tonight,” said Yılmaz, who is known for his role in movies like G.O.R.A,” “A.R.O.G,” “Yahşi Batı” (Mild West) and “Av Mevsimi” (Hunting Season).
Yılmaz and Yağtu, who is four months pregnant, invited 150 guests to the ceremony. The couple arrived at the hotel a day before the ceremony and reserved 15 rooms for their guests. A crowded group of press members also waited in front of the hotel to photograph Turkey’s most famous jet set couple arriving for the wedding, which was closed to the press.
Turkish singer Ümit Besen gave a mini-concert at the ceremony while Turkish pop stars Tarkan and Sezen Aksu also took the stage.
Well-known figures from the Turkish art, cinema and fashion worlds, including Şener Şen, Yavuz Turgul, Demet Evgar, Demet Akbağ, Mazhar Alanson, Biricik Suden, Özkan Uğur, Yılmaz Erdoğan, Belçim Erdoğan, Türker İnanoğlu, Meltem Cumbul, Şebnem Ferah, Zafer Algöz, Kenan Doğulu, Beren Saat, Özge Ulusoy and Hakan Yıldırım, were among the guests at the wedding.
