One soldier was injured when two hand-made explosives placed on a road exploded on April 28 in the Aegean province of Manisa.

The first explosion occurred on a road in the Soma district during the passing of civilian vehicles. No casualties were reported. A second explosion occurred as gendarmerie teams arrived at the scene after the first incident.

One gendarmerie non-commissioned officer was injured in the explosion.

The road was also closed to traffic, as a number of firefighters and health personnel were deployed to the scene.

Meanwhile, Manisa Governor Erdoğan Bektaş said the windshield of the military vehicle was damaged, adding that an investigation into the incident was ongoing.

It was not immediately clear who placed the explosives on the road.
