Selçuk shines as Lions beat Trabzonspor

Galatasaray crushed Trabzonspor 4-2 to continue atop the Spor Toto Super League playoffs on April 28, with Selçuk İnan dealing a major blow to his former team with a goal and an assist.Galatasaray rose to 45 points in the Super League championship playoffs with three matches left, five above Fenerbahçe, who was set to play against Beşiktaş later yesterday. Trabzonspor remained on 31 points, while Beşiktaş has 28.
On April 28, Galatasaray managed to bounce back from last week’s disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Fenerbahçe.
The Lions opened the scoring with a scorching free-kick goal by its midfield maestro Selçuk in the 20th minute. The former Trabzon man took his tally to 11 goals, with five of them coming from free kicks.
Selçuk showed his impact in the second goal as well, dishing out an assist to Necati Ateş in the 22nd minute. Necati doubled his tally in the 42nd minute. Trabzonspor’s Gustavo Colman’s double in the second half and Galatasaray’s Emmanuel Eboue’s goal were largely academic.
The following match day of the championship playoffs will see the reversed fixture of this weekend, with Galatasaray hosting Trabzonspor on May 4 and Fenerbahçe visiting Beşiktaş the day after. In the Europa League playoff, Istanbul BB crushed Sivasspor 4-2 to advance to the top of the group with 29 points.
Sivas also has 29. Eskişehirspor beat Bursaspor 2-0 in yesterday’s Europa League playoff game. Both teams are on 28 points
