Fear is not the correct response to terrorism, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım said on Sept. 20 while addressing the 26th Universal Postal Congress in Istanbul.

“You cannot be safe by running away from terrorism. You cannot get rid of it by fearing it. No spot in the world is safe,” the prime minister said.

Some circles were engaged in shifting the venue of the congress from Turkey to another place after the failed coup attempt in the country on July 15 despite the fact that the decision was made four years ago, Yıldırım said.

However, the determined stance of the UPC and the righteous struggle of the Turkish PTT ensured the meeting was still held in Istanbul.

“If you make terrorism afraid, then you are safe,” the prime minister said. “We, all together, will not be afraid of it, but it will fear us. Then both Turkey and the world will be safe.”

Yıldırım also praised the congress for its nature-friendly stance, as all documents were shared digitally.
