Rise in Turkish industrial production above expectations in September

Turkey’s industrial production index saw a two-year high in September 2013, with a 6.4 percent increase over the same month of the previous year, according to data released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜİK) on Nov. 8.

According to the data issued in the Industrial Production Index, the seasonally and calendar adjusted industrial production increased by 5.8 percent in September compared to the previous month.

In the third quarter, total output rose 3.7 percent year-on-year and was up 1 percent compared with the preceding three-month period.

“The growth in Europe remains weak, but we have already seen an increase in imports from the eurozone. One of the most positively affected countries from these developments will be Turkey,” said Economy Minister Zafer Çağlayan by a written statement on Nov. 8.
