Profits in banking drop in October

The Turkish banking sector’s profit dropped 11.7 percent to 16.5 billion Turkish Liras in October 2011 compared with the same period of 2010, according to official data.

The sector’s assets reached 1.2 trillion liras as of October, said the provisional data from the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency of Turkey (BRSA).

The Turkish banking sector’s assets increased by 210.1 billion liras as of October 2011 when compared to the end of 2010, the regulator said in a Dec. 9 statement.
