Manure of 2.5 million chickens on Bandırma farms will be used in producing power.

A 20 million Turkish Liras biogas facility to be established in Bandırma, one of the leading poultry centers in the northwestern province of Balıkesir, will produce energy out of the manure of around 2.5 million chickens.

Recep Yılmaz, a board member at the investor company, said they would be cooperating with a Germany company, without disclosing a name. “Companies allied to the Bandırma Egg Producers Association own around 2.5 million chickens. The association will provide us with manure,” he said.

The daily poultry manure production in the region is around 170 tons. The facility will also use some 45 tons of livestock manure, 14 tons of corn silage and 82 tons of water, Yılmaz said. The daily production on 20,640 meter squares of biogas will generate 17 million KwH of electricity annually, he added.
