Police detain 31 ISIL suspects in Istanbul

ISTANBUL

Turkish police detained a total of 31 suspects in an operation against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Istanbul on Dec. 23, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office earlier had issued an arrest warrant for a total of 41 suspects on charges of “membership of an armed terror organization” as a part of an investigation into the militants.

Police later detained 31 suspects upon a prosecutor’s instructions and transferred them to the Istanbul police headquarters.

Meanwhile, the other 10 fleeing suspects were not found in their addresses as searches to apprehend them are ongoing.
