PKK shelters, materials destroyed in army operations in eastern Turkey

PKK shelters, materials destroyed in army operations in eastern Turkey The Turkish Armed Forces carried out an operation between Nov. 15 and 18 in the Sehi area of the eastern province of Bitlis, destroying shelters, materials, explosives and mines belonging to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants, the army said on its website.
 
The forces tracked materials and shelters belonging to the militants in the operation launched against the PKK in a forested area of Sehi. 

Six hand-made explosives and nine anti-personnel mines were destroyed in the operation. 

Meanwhile, Turkish Air Forces carried out airstrikes on PKK targets in northern Iraq’s Avasin-Basyan and Zap regions, killing and capturing seven militants, the military said Nov. 23.

In a separate operation, large numbers of explosive materials were seized on Nov. 22 in the Çukurca district of the eastern province of Hakkari, the statement added.
        
The military also said six handmade explosives were destroyed in the southeastern provinces of Diyarbakır, Şırnak, and Bitlis, while security forces seized foodstuffs in two shelters in the Bitlis’ Güroymak district.
        
In another statement on the website, Turkish forces on Nov. 22 captured 1,265 people trying to illegally cross the border from Syria and Iraq into Turkey. Eight people were also captured while attempting to cross illegally into Syria and Iraq.
