Suspected members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) set a school building on fire yesterday in the eastern province of Hakkari’s Şemdinli district, Anatolia news agency reported.

The school, located in a village three kilometers outside of Şemdinli, was set on fire at around 1 a.m. early today.

Villagers notified the authorities when the flames began to rise. Security forces and firefighters were sent to the area.

The fire was soon put out, but the flames heavily damaged the building.
