Heavy snow taking toll on Turkey
Heavy snow taking toll on Turkey
Adverse weather conditions that have wreaked havoc across eastern and southeastern Turkey are set to continue, meteorologists have warned amid a disruption of access to countless villages due to heavy snowfall.
Hundreds of villages in eastern Van and Bitlis provinces, along with southeastern Hakkari province, have been cut off due to excessive snowfall.
Nearly 500 villages have been entirely clogged by snow.
The snow depth reached up to 30 centimeters in Van, hitting 50 centimeters in Hakkari and a meter in Bitlis.
Works to remove snow are ongoing.
