Fog blankets Turkish capital, paralyzes life
Fog blankets Turkish capital, paralyzes life
Heavy fog blanketed Ankara late on Dec. 17, paralyzing life in the capital as surface visibility was reduced to nearly zero at night.
The dense fog is expected to continue until Dec. 20, according to meteorologists.
Effective in all of Ankara, the heavy fog disrupted life in high-altitude districts such as Bilkent and Dikmen.
Poor visibility caused difficulties for drivers especially in the highways from Ankara to Eskişehir, Samsun, Konya and Istanbul.
Officials have warned Ankara residents against black ice as thermometers hit minus two degrees. Ankara Metropolitan Municipality’s salt trucks also have been dispatched to prevent icing.
