A patient in intensive care has reportedly fallen from the second-floor window of a university hospital in the southern province of Kahramanmaraş.

Gülbeyaz Köse, 45, underwent surgery for broken bones and received two weeks of care after her fall, which reportedly occurred May 17.

Köse began receiving treatment in the hospital on May 16 for heart problems. The woman, however, fell from the second floor due to unknown reasons while receiving intensive care following an angioplasty, one day after she was first hospitalized.

“She is lying at home. She has broken her femur, shoulder and ribcage,” said the woman’s son, Durdu Köse. “The night doctor said she had tried to take off the oxygen mask. However, the hospital administration did not provide any satisfactory explanation [for her fall].”

The woman’s relatives have reportedly filed a complaint and are preparing to open a suit in the case; officials from the hospital, meanwhile, have yet to make any comment about the incident.
