One soldier was killed and three security officials, including another soldier, were wounded in an attack by outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants in the İpekyolu district of the eastern province of Van on July 26.

Police units were conducting an operation on July 26 against PKK militants who had built trenches and set two cars on fire in İpekyolu’s Hacıbekir neighborhood. The militants then staged an attack with rocket launchers and long-barreled weapons on an armored military vehicle that had arrived in Hacıbekir to reinforce the police units conducting the operation.

A soldier was killed while another solider and two police officers were wounded during clashes with the militants.

An aerial-supported operation launched against the militants was ongoing.
