New so-called Picasso painting found in Elazığ

A painting claimed to be by Pablo Picasso has been seized in the eastern province of Elazığ.

Gendarmerie officials were informed that a person would come from the eastern province of Malatya to Elazığ to sell a Picasso painting titled “Harlequin’s Family.”

The suspect’s car was stopped by the gendarmerie near the Kömürhan Bridge and the painting was seized in the car. It was reported that the suspect would ask $10 million for the painting.

The painting was sent to the Elazığ Archaeology and Ethnography Museum for examination.

Another painting bearing the signature of Pablo Picasso was seized Jan. 8 during an operation in the Aegean province of Manisa. The painting was sent to the İzmir Painting and Sculpture Museum. Officials have reported that a similar painting was also seized two years ago in the southern province of Adana.
