New chance for paid military

New chance for paid military

ANKARA - Hürriyet Daily News
The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) is preparing to draft a legal amendment that will offer a new chance for applicants to benefit from a paid military exemption law. The law on paid exemption from military service went into force on Dec. 31, 2011, while the application window closed in June.

AKP Istanbul deputy Bülent Turan said yesterday that those who could not apply for various reasons despite having the right to do so, as well as those who could not pay the second installment of the required 30,000-Turkish Lira fee on time, would be given a second chance with the new amendment. “We have met with Defense Minister [İsmet Yılmaz] and obtained approval from the prime minister [Recep Tayyip Erdoğan]. The proposal will be put on Parliament’s agenda after debates on the 2013 budget are concluded,” Turan said.
