Daily Hürriyet reporter Arzu Çakır Morin has conducted an interview with an unusual Muslim man in France, who has been trying to open a "mosque for gays."

"When I was 12 years old, I started exploring Islam and performing prayers. At first, I was impressed by the Salafists in Algeria, afterwards I became distant from them because of the terrorist attacks they performed," Mohammed Ludovic Lütfi Zahed said, explaining his approaching to Islam.

"After my first night with a man, I realized that I was gay. I have found out that I had been pushing down my feelings with the help of Islam," he said.

Çakır questioned the reason why Zahed felt he needed a "mosque for gays."

"In normal mosques, women have to sit in the back seats and wear a headscarf and gay men are afraid of both verbal and physical aggression. After performing the Hajj, I realized that a mosque for gays was a must for gay Muslims who want to perform their prayers," Zahed said.

"We will use a hall in a Buddhist chapel, which will be opened on Nov. 30th" he said, adding that in the new mosque women and men would be able to perform their prayers together in the same space.

In response to a question as to whether same-sex marriage ceremonies would be performed, Zahed said: "We will start with Friday prayers, but we will perform marriages afterwards."

More than 100,000 people turned out Saturday across France for rallies against government plans to approve same-sex marriage and adoption, as police clashed with counter-demonstrators in one city.

Foreig view: Nature doesn't have flaws but the God change the nature normal process when humans made sin. Also, Islam doesn't have flaws but the flaw in some people who understand the religion wrongly. However, you don't guide who you like but the god who started everything guide who he wants.

I once exchanged views with a Catholic, who argued that his religion was the most accepting religion, believing in equality in every department of nature and that Islam had many flaws. I told the man that both religions to me are flawed and one example was the rights of homosexuals. He repeated his answer and said "as I said before, equal rights to everything that is natural". I then replied by saying "then how do you explain animals practicing it"? He said "why are you comparing us to animals?

Bravo Ms. Page and Mr. Hashimi, I agree with you both 100%. We Muslims must fully comprehend the golden principles of Islam, enact them wholeheartedly in our daily lives, and, thus, become exemplars for the rest of the humanity to follow. May Allah guide us all to, and maintain our course on, the path of righteousness. Ameen!

Yıldız:‏ ‏In fact, Muslims took Women from the ground to the respect such as Arabs were putting women under the sand, Romans believe that women are evils and other burning women after her husband died. So Islam came and change people thinking until we hear about women rights today. Some Muslims who aren't fallow the Islam Religion commands, the wrong on them not the religion. In the end, Check how many women are assaulted through the history in the west everyday.

A gay mosque s not worse than covering women with Burka s and Black Veil and treating them like 5th class citizens, killing them beating them to death, not allowing them to live a life they could deserve in other countries of other religions, installing a chip on women so the battered women cannot escape their abusif husbands. Forcing women to give birth to a child acquired during rape. A gay mosque is not worse than the sect wars, the wars created by imperialist forces just to sell arms etc.,

Brian Irlanda. You might think that a gay mosque is a bad idea. But why not let people have it? You just have to go there and the problem is solved. If you are concerned with what people do in the name of God, then i would say that the Talibans or the terror attacks, Jihad etc are far worse than a gay mosque.

Foreign view / B12, Turkish Sal is right, I was being sarcastic. Safiyah Noor Page, the various sects within Islam already treat it as a buffet. Sunni, Shia, Salafi, Alevi etc etc, all have their own interpretations and concepts, what's the difference? Truther, it's obvious enough that groups within Islam do more work on dividing Muslims. 33 Shia Pakistanis killed by Sunnis in the past 3 days, are a good example, a gay Mosque will make no difference unless life is cheap.
