Mortars target military base in eastern Turkey

A “group of terrorists” launched a mortar attack on a military base in the eastern Turkish province of Hakkari on May 25, the Turkish Armed Forces has announced in an official statement. 

The military base in the Dağlıca district of Hakkari was shelled by an unidentified group, but the attack was halted after the military hit back, according to the statement. 

It added that there were no injuries or casualties as a result of the skirmish. 

A formal investigation has been launched into the clashes.
