Ministry to set line for transformation

ANKARA - Anatolia News Agency
Ministry to set line for transformation The Environment and Urban Planning Ministry is working to establish an “urban transformation line” that will answer citizens’ questions about ongoing urban transformation projects.

A public relations office will be created in the General Directorate of Infrastructure and Urban Transformation Services, and experts will be available to answer citizens’ questions about the department’s projects, according to information from authorities at the Environment and Urban Planning Ministry. The public will also be kept informed on subjects such as determining areas of greatest disaster risk, the detection of at-risk buildings, and reserve areas via social media. The ministry will create urban transformation pages on Facebook and Twitter, and department news will be announced to the public instantly.

Ministry authorities also plan to meet with the producers and screenwriters of popular TV series to request them to emphasize the importance of earthquake-resistant buildings. Special television and radio broadcasts at the national, local and regional level will feature programs on such topics as urban transformation and decreasing disaster risk.
