Turkey’s forestry and waterworks minister has warned locals to be careful about unexploded ordnance around a military depot in the western province of Afyonkarahisar as a deadly explosion yesterday at the facility might have deposited grenades around the area.

"These will be detonated in time," Veysel Eroğlu said. "Citizens should not worry about them, but they should notify authorities when they spot a grenade."

Eroğlu also said locals must avoid entering the blast site at any cost.

Twenty-five soldiers were killed and more were injured after grenades in the military depot exploded late yesterday.

PM not to come for now

Eroğlu also said Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan would not be visiting the site.

"There is nothing to do here," Eroğlu said. "There is no reason for now for the prime minister and chief of General Staff to come [here]."
