A man who opened fire randomly after entering a car dealership comitted suicide in Istanbul's Kadıköy district today, daily Hürriyet has reported.

The man, identified as Aydın Zaman, reportedly ordered three people – two employees and a customer – in the dealership to leave before opening fire with a pump-action rifle.

Zaman committed suicide despite police officers’ effort to convince him to lay down his weapon.

Police arrived at the scene soon after the incident began and closed two streets in both directions to take security measures, while the blocked roads caused a traffic jam in the neighborhood, reports said.

The dealership reportedly belongs to Arif Ekşi and the attacker was reportedly his former son-in-law.
