A lion cub, puppies, more than a hundred parrots were seized in the back of a truck in the northwestern Turkish province of Edirne on March 3, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported. 

One lion cub, 123 lovebirds, 150 quarrions, 24 miniature Asian goats, two snow owls, six Amazonian parrots and 42 doves were among the animals seized by Edirne Gendarmerie Units in the town of İpsala, one of the main border checkpoints between Greece and Turkey.

The animals were brought into Turkey illegally, law enforcement officials told the agency.

Two people, including the driver, have been detained over the incident.
