Kangal dog returns to life with blood transfusion

A kangal-mix dog, which has been found on the street on the verge of death by an animal lover in the central Anatolian province of Sivas’ Şarkışla district, received a blood transfusion from another healthy dog.

The dog, named Şanslı (Lucky), is getting better day by day.

“The dog is getting better. He was in very bad condition two days ago. A blood transfusion was his last chance. An animal lover, who has a kangal farm, provided a healthy dog for the blood transfusion. Thanks to them, we have increased his blood count. He began eating very well. There is muscle damage in his rear leg. When he gets better, we will perform an x-ray to see if it is broken. He is well right now and trying to stand up. This is a good thing. His needs are all financed by an animal lover in Istanbul,” said the veterinarian, Atilla Dulkadir.

Another animal lover, Eda Sarıer, has been with the dog since the beginning of his treatment in Şarkışla.

She said they received many calls from people who want to help the dog’s treatment but they do not need donations.

When the treatment in Sivas is finished, Şanslı will be sent to Istanbul.
