Istanbul’s Asian side district of Kadıköy will be hosting free, limitless Wi-Fi for internet users as of today, Kadıköy Municipality has announced. Those who desire to connect to free Wi-Fi will have to choose the “Kadıköy Wifi” network from their computers or mobile devices, after which users will be directed to an interface where they must enter their mobile numbers to gain a password that will allow them to connect.
Among the various spots, Kadıköy Municipality has determined the well-known “bull square” on the main artery of the Bahariye neighborhood to have free Wi-Fi.
Mayor Selami Öztürk said Kadıköy locals, who use technology intensely, are in need of this service, which he said would be a high quality connection.
Öztürk said their next step would be to expand the free Wi-Fi area to parks from the main streets, identifying Yoğurtçu Park and Göztepe Özgürlük Park to be priorities.
