Istanbul students receive top youth enterprise award for mobile physical therapy app A group of students from Boğaziçi University and Istanbul University have received the top award in a youth enterprise competition held by a leading business organization for their mobile health application, which enables patients to monitor their physical therapy processes any time they need.

The app was developed by Cihat Erbay, Berduhan Aslan, Mahmut Jiyan Aslan and Safa Andaç. Their project took the top award at the “These Young People Have the Potential!” competition, which is held by the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD). The students were given a 75,000-Turkish Lira monetary prize as well as corporate job opportunities.

In the award ceremony, which was held in Istanbul on May 17, Halil Önder Özbaşak and Şeyma Öztürk from the Istanbul-based Marmara University ranked second in the competition with their project aiming to manufacture environmentally friendly industrial leather by using fewer chemicals and water.

Serdar Atmaca and Lütfullah Kıcık from Amasya University in central Turkey ranked third with their smart and low-cost solution to ice load problems in power transmission lines.

A total of 3,706 students from 152 universities in 73 provinces across the country applied for the competition with 1,426 projects this year. Entrepreneurship training was offered to all students who passed the preselection process.

The finalists had the opportunity to develop their business ideas and create detailed business plans in a training process with their mentors from TÜSİAD.
