‘Is the video of Turkish soldiers released by ISIL true’ CHP asks gov’t

“Has there been any investigation initiated about the video that was broadcast by ISIL claiming that they are burning Turkish soldiers? Are the images in the video correct? the questionnaire signed by CHP group deputy chairperson Özgür Özel stated.

The main opposition party has asked the Office of the Prime Ministry about a video released by the Islamic State of the Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), which allegedly shows two Turkish soldiers being immolated, in a written parliamentary questionnaire.

“The 19-minute video which was spread online on Dec. 22 night with the claim ‘ISIL has burned Turkish soldiers’ has caused public indignation,” the questionnaire signed by CHP group deputy chairperson Özgür Özel stated on Dec. 23.

Sources have told the Hürriyet Daily News that ISIL have released fabricated propaganda videos and that work was continuing to determine the authenticity of the new video.

“Has there been any investigation initiated about the video that was broadcast by ISIL claiming that they are burning Turkish soldiers? Are the images in the video correct?” the CHP asked Prime Ministry, faxing the questions to the related public institutions, the Defense Ministry and the Chief of the General Staff for an immediate answer.

“If these images are true, by who/whom were the soldiers abducted?” CHP asked, listing other related questions: “What kind of initiatives have been undertaken by your government for the rescue of the abducted soldiers? Have there been any negotiations taken by the kidnappers for the release of our troops? When was the interview done? Have there been any requests conveyed for the release of troops during the talks? If so, what were the demand?”
