Iranian state television yesterday showed several Iranians alleged to be part of a group of 14 who “confessed” to killing five Iranian nuclear scientists since 2010 after being trained by Israeli intelligence.

The broadcast showed some of the suspects re-enacting the assassinations in different districts of the capital Tehran. Fourteen suspects shown on TV included eight men and six women. “The assassination control room was in Tel Aviv, but it was receiving the orders from Washington and London,” the TV report said.

The television report showed the suspects speaking of how they purportedly prepared to murder the scientists, and broadcast a re-enactment of assassins on a motorbike fixing a magnetic bomb to a victim’s car, while dramatic music played in the background.

Iran says the attacks are part of a covert campaign by Israel and the West to sabotage its nuclear program, which the U.S. and its allies suspect is aimed at producing nuclear weapons.
