Turkey's dreams of participating in 2018 World Cup were crushed after the team suffered a 3-0 defeat against Iceland at Yeni Eskişehir Stadium in the northwestern province of Eskişehir late on Oct. 6.

Iceland had a 2-0 lead at halftime, with goals from Johann Gudmundsson and Birkir Bjarnason.

Iceland scored another goal in the 49th minute from a corner kick to secure a 3-0 lead. Kari Arnason was the scorer.

Turkey, which once finished third at 2002 World Cup, will now miss its such fourth tournament in a row.

Here are the results of Oct. 6 at Group I:

Turkey - Iceland: 0-3

Croatia - Finland: 1-1

Kosovo - Ukraine: 0-2
