Human remains found at former gendarmerie station in Hakkari

Bones and a skull believed to belong to a human were found during the excavation of a former gendarmerie station in the eastern province of Hakkari.

Construction of a new governor’s office on the site was halted after workers discovered the remains.

The bones were sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute for further analysis after a crime scene investigation team visited the site.

The local republican prosecutor has also launched an inquiry into the discovery.
