Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş pledged they won’t “fight” just because President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan objected to the 10-article declaration agreed to by the HDP and the government last month.

“The rulers of the country say they will not take any steps in favor of democracy and peace. No need for fear and panic. You, who object to the 10-article declaration and education in mother tongue, even you don’t want, peace will come to this country... We don’t make peace for you,” Demirtaş said, speaking to Erdoğan while giving a speech at the Nevruz celebrations on March 22.

He slammed Erdoğan over his objection to steps taken in the Kurdish peace process that were agreed to with the government, saying the president is doomed to be alone.

Demirtaş said Erdoğan “objects everything, acts as if he is ‘one man’ who is in charge of everything. Yes you are alone and will remain alone. We are millions and you are only one.”

Erdoğan recently criticized the government’s moves in the Kurdish peace process, saying he is opposed to a monitoring committee for the process and to a landmark government meeting with the HDP in Dolmabahçe Palace last month and the 10-article declaration that followed it.

On June 7 is the day people will decide how to live in this country, Demirtaş said.
The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) lashed out at HDP because his party is “the only one that can stop the AKP,” he said.
The HDP should build bridges with those “who rightfully criticized, who were prejudged and were distanced so far,” Demirtaş said.
Demirtaş called on the audience to not allow provocations aimed at sabotaging the election process.
