ANKARA - Anatolia News Agency
Turkey is to spend over 165 million Turkish Liras on the first airport to be built on the sea between the Black Sea provinces of Ordu and Giresun.

The planned Ordu-Giresun Airport, which will serve Ordu and Giresun provinces, will be constructed over a water-filled area and will be the first of its kind in Europe and the fourth of its kind in the world.

The government will spend the multi-million lira budget on infrastructure and superstructure investments for the project, which will be overseen by the Transport Ministry’s Infrastructure Investment Directorate.
After completing the infrastructure investments by the end of this year, the ministry will hold a call for tender for the remaining superstructure investments.

The total cost of project is estimated to reach 230.5 million liras by its end. The airport will have an annual passenger capacity of 2 million people after its construction, which is due to be completed by the end of 2014.

The government made the decision to build the airport and finally conducted studies in 2011.
