Government needs to move on: PKK leader

ANKARA - Hürriyet Daily News
The jailed leader of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) has delivered a warning concerning the fate of the ongoing peace process, as he reportedly encouraged the government to take initiative in order to be able to move along the process.

The message by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan was conveyed by his brother, Mehmet Öcalan yesterday at a conference held in Diyarbakır, news portal t24.com.tr reported.

Following an almost four-month-long hiatus since his previous visit, Mehmet Öcalan visited his brother at the prison on İmralı island off Marmara Sea on June 12.

“When I went to İmralı, Abdullah Öcalan told me: ‘The process cannot resume healthily in its current shape. There are things which should be carried out by the state. The path should be smoothed for the process. If this is not fulfilled, I reckon there will be stagnation,’” Mehmet Öcalan was quoted as saying by t24.com.tr.
