‘Golden brushes’ go to exhibit

‘Golden brushes’ go to exhibit Original works by 48 Turkish painters, known as the “golden brushes” of Turkish painting, will be displayed for the first time, according to the Culture and Tourism Ministry.

According to a written statement, 60 valuable paintings are in the special collection of the Culture and Tourism Ministry National Library headquarters and most of them have never been displayed before.
The exhibition, titled “Türk Resmine İmza Atanlar” (Those who signed Turkish painting), will open on Dec. 8 at the Airport Outlet Center Art Gallery in Istanbul.

Among the painters, whose works will be displayed with special permission from the ministry, are İbrahim Çallı, Hoca Ali Rıza, Nuri İyem, Şeref Bigalı, Mehmet A. Laga, Hasan Kavruk, Maide Arel, Mehmet Uzel, Feyhaman Duran, Nüzhet İslimyeli and Pertev Boyar. The exhibition will run through Dec. 31, according to the ministry.
