Furtive intelligence unit’s existence affirmed by an online form

ISTANBUL
JİTEM, an intelligence unit of the gendarmerie never officially recognized by the military, has emerged as a school at Turkey’s employment agency İş-KUR‘s website.

An online application form at job-creating agency’s website, asks people to choose one of the given undergraduate schools to record their education level and one of the choices is emerged to be JİTEM Anti-Terrorism Military Academy in Ankara’s Etimesgut district.

The clandestine JİTEM has been accused of being behind dozens of unsolved murders, predominantly in the 1990s, but its existence has been constantly denied by the military.

İş-kur authorities reached by daily Hürriyet confirmed the form and said the information used for the options is valid.

“We update the website in accordance with the information provided by the institutions. If there is a mistake, it will be corrected through the information that comes from the gendarmerie,” authorities have reportedly told Hürriyet.
