French President François Hollande has officially recognised the October 17, 1961 massacre of Algerian protesters by French police in Paris, becoming the first French head of state to acknowledge one of the murkiest episodes of Algeria’s struggle for independence from France.

Fifty-one years ago, French security forces repressed a protest organized by the National Liberation Front of Algeria against the institution of a curfew for Maghrebis in Paris and its suburbs by prefect Maurice Papon.

Just a reminder to people, this is about the murder of up to 200 Algerians by the French police during a demonstration in paris in 1961, not about what happened in Algeria itself.

This is how a courageous state behaves.Perhaps Turkey should do the same about the 1915 Armenian Genocide, the Pontiac Genocide and the Asia Minor christian Genocide of 1922.Admiting the mistakes of the past, enables the way to avoid repeating them in the future.

Now Turkey has no more excuses regarding the Genocide issue with France!Time for Turkey to follow France & recognize the Armenian Genocide committed by the Ottomans & Young Turks.
