The French Education Ministry has recently launched a campaign in order to make sex education more effective in primary schools with the aim of preventing the formation of gender stereotypes during childhood, daily Le Figaro has reported.

A working group composed of medics, psychologists, teachers and representatives of parental associations will start working on an action plan Oct. 26.

The campaign has been supported by many deputies, as well as Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius.

Sexual education courses have existed in the French education system since 2001, but they have been criticized for their lack of effectiveness.
