Former senior MIT director to work in sugar refineries

Mehmet Eymur, the former counterterrorism division chief of the National Intelligence Organization (MIT), has been appointed to another state institution overseeing the country's sugar refineries.

The appointment was confirmed late on Thursday by Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz, who said the he undersigned the appointment himself.

Following the arrest of famous mafia boss Alaattin Cakici in Paris, Yilmaz recalled Eymur to Turkey from his appointment in the United States. Later, Eymur was relegated to a post in Turkey due to a scandalous disclosure of state-mafia links.
