FM Çavuşoğlu meets with Japanese Princess Akiko

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu received Japanese Princess Akiko of Mikasa on Sept. 10 in the capital of Ankara.

They held a closed-door meeting at the official residence of the foreign minister.

Separately, Parliament Speaker Binali Yıldırım also met Princess Akiko at his official residence.

Prior to the meetings, Akiko left a wreath at Anıtkabir, the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Turkish Republic.

She then visited the Kalehöyük archaeological site in the Central Anatolian province of Kırşehir, the Japanese Institute of Anatolian Archaeology, the Japanese Garden and the Kalehöyük Museum of Archaeology.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hosted the Japanese princess in Istanbul on Sept. 9.

Akiko is visiting Turkey to attend an event organized by the Prince Mikasa Foundation at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum.

She will be in Turkey until Sept. 14.
