Five PKK members killed

BATMAN
Five alleged PKK members were killed in southeastern Turkey on Feb. 3 in a shootout with Turkish security forces.

The clash occurred at 7:30 a.m. in a rural area near the town of Kozluk in Batman province during a raid by security forces, Agence France-Presse reported. The gun battle, which lasted about an hour and a half, began after members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) refused to heed a call from security forces to surrender. Meanwhile, one suspect, identified as C.K., was arrested regarding a car bomb explosion in Hakkari in which one person died last month.
