Five Iraqis, including children, freeze to death attempting to cross into Turkey

Five people, including three children and one woman, froze to death while attempting to cross into the southeastern Turkish province of Hakkari from Iraq, Doğan News Agency reported on Feb. 27.
Locals living near the village of Samanlı in Hakkari’s Derecik district contacted the gendarmerie forces after seeing the bodies lying across the border. Gendarmerie officials later arrived at the scene and identified the Iraqis as dead.
The five bodies were collected from the border after the gendarmerie contacted the Iraqi authorities.
