A small fire in capital Ankara's Esenboğa Airport interrupted flights earlier this morning, daily Hürriyet has reported.

A cut in the radar system due to the fire prevented take offs and landings for over an hour. All planes waiting for take off were sent back to their parking positions and passengers were sent back to the terminals.

The fire was taken under control and the airport returned back to normal functioning within a couple of hours.
