Rival Palestinian factions Fatah and Hamas said on Monday they have decided to end years of infighting in a show of solidarity over the Gaza crisis, an AFP reporter said.
"From here, we announce with other (factional) leaders, that we are ending the division," senior Fatah official Jibril Rajoub told a crowd of about 1,000 who gathered for a demonstration in Ramallah, the West Bank's political capital.

Among those present at the rally were top members of Hamas's leadership in the West Bank as well as senior officials from its smaller rival Islamic Jihad, the AFP correspondent said.
Ramallah's Manara Square was a sea of Palestinian flags as the crowd chanted "Unity!" and "Hit, hit Tel Aviv" in an appeal to Hamas militants who have fired at least five rockets at the coastal city since Thursday.
"Whoever speaks about the division after today is a criminal," top Hamas leader Mahmud al-Ramahi told the crowd.
Fatah and Hamas, the two main Palestinian national factions, have been locked in a bitter dispute for years.
But the ongoing bloodshed in the Hamas-run Gaza Strip, where Israel was on Monday pressing a sixth day of a major aerial campaign which has so far killed 91 Palestinians, appears to have prompted a rethink of traditional rivalries.
Gaza's Hamas-run government has long been at loggerheads with the rival Fatah-dominated Palestinian Authority in the West Bank and a unity deal struck between the two in April 2011, fell apart as the two bickered over the formation of a caretaker cabinet.

It makes no sense at all for people who are under occupation to have multiple groups who would preferably fight among themselves than against their oppressing occupiers. And in the case of Israel and Palestinians, there is an another twist; a country created by UN, and UN has no backbone to control the oppressive measures created/implemented by Israel against the Palestinians. Also the Arabs are to be blamed, they talk much but do a little; while Israelis talk less but do more.

Zionists Israel is a breading machine of radicals and that has been its policy for fifty years.by killing the mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters of Palenstinians they never will see peace and they dont peace,by denying they basic human rights, denying them a economy,by denying them medicines or treatments, the normal we take for granted they have been deprived for decades, schools and hospitals are the first to be bombed. The children grow up with Reveng in everychilds heart.

The ideal solution is merger of PLO, FATAH & HAMAS on equal footing with combined single Leadership and cadres drawn from them all! Instill discipline to prevent freelance attacks on Israel. Eliminate the Chapter to DESTROY Israel, in Words & Deeds, denaying their Hawks alll eeason to Attack! Present the World and Israel a sollidly founded Government to demandand nogatiate for a country of your own, to do away with common Israeli Hawks claim: "There is nobody to talk to"!

How long will this last. And then again why should Hamas and the PA become one. Where is the "loyal opposition" A one party state is a dictatorship. Where are the checks and balances to come from. This will not be good for the people in the long run. But then again this is par for the course for them.

Israel murdered Arafat,to make way for Abbas who is a apeaser and was liked by the Zionists why? because he did as he was told by the Nazis i mean the Zionists..Abbas has a lot to answer for.His so called peace pact has not worked, only way left is resistance.Israel has not left any other choice but to fight back and resist the land grabbing.Since israel has broken and not kept its part of the camp David peace agreements.Israel has once again united the Arab and Muslim world with one voice .

That is great news! Now may the Palestinians of the Occupied Territories unite with the Arab citizens of Israel to overthrow their Zionist oppressors! I say Zionist, not Jewish, because I am NOT an anti-Semite....but I certainly DO see Israel as an apartheid state with many of the characteristics of Nazi Germany (i.e. nationalistic, militaristic, racist and based on the dominance of one ethnic group).

The only way forward left for the Palenstinians is to be reconised by the World, then we can arm them to the teeth, this will enable them to defend they lands and familes from israel and the Zionists state.Thats the only thing the israelis understand and respect, under the false cover of peace the israelis have stolen more land then when Arafat took up arms in they struggle. The Peace accord only gave licence for israel to land grab.Better to die resisting than die a slave.in bondage.

Fatah was Hamas 20 years ago. Abu Mazen stopped to actively support terrorism after he realized it was not in Palestinians interest. Hamas too will learn terrorism is not in Palestinians interest. Israel has no other choice -must stop all missiles, terrorist operations in decisive way. Gazans have Hamas to blame for all death, destruction in Gaza. Hamas can stop conflict at any time - if it stops shooting missiles, terrorist activity. I hope they do so- for their sake!
