Turkey’s exports volume reached $12.6 billion in July with a 17.3 percent increase from the same month a year earlier, according to figures revealed by Turkish Exporters Association (TİM) yesterday, marking the highest rate of increase in exports this year, according to Economy Minister Zafer Çağlayan.

Çağlayan said in a written statement that the exports saw the highest rate of increase last month, adding that apart from a few exceptions all sectors had shown an increase. “Our exporters kicked off,” he said.

The automotive sector pioneered the rise in exports with $1.9 billion worth of exports last month, marking a 35.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The ready-wear sector followed it with $1.6 billion worth of exports last month, marking a 16.2 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Exports to the European Union increased to $5.3 billion last month with a 23 percent increase in the same period.
