President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan opted to use his own armored official car brought from Turkey during his first face-to-face meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in the White House on May 16, Doğan News Agency has reported.

The official armored Mercedes was transferred to the United States by a military cargo airplane.

It is the second time that the president has used his own armored official car in the country. An armored official car brought from Turkey was used during Erdoğan’s visit to New York for a United Nations summit last year.

During a previous visit to the White House to meet former President Barack Obama, Erdoğan used an armored Cadillac provided by the U.S.

Erdoğan first began shipping his own car for his travels in February 2016 during a South American trip that included Chile, Peru and Ecuador.
