Economy and banking strong, president says

President Abdullah Gül praised Turkey’s banking sector in his speech at the Turkey-United Arab Emirates Business Forum yesterday in Dubai and said Europe does not offer the same growth potential for investors.“Europe has grown all it can […] Their population is aging and some countries’ populations are falling,” said Gül. He said Turkey had a population of 75 million and that over the past 10 years it had registered a 5 percent average growth rate and expected 4 percent growth this year.
Meanwhile, Gül said Turkey and the UAE should opt for large-scale strategic partnerships instead of transitory and short-term ones. Turkey and the UAE currently conduct $5 billion in trade.
