Documentary Days in June

ISTANBUL
Documentarist’s 7th Istanbul Documentary Days will be organized between June 7 and 12 this year.

According to a written statement, in addition to documentary films from around the world, the event will also feature a series of other events, such as workshops and presentations.

The guest country of the event is Syria. Films made by Syrian documentary makers featuring the daily lives of Syrian people under the grueling conditions of the civil war will meet the audiences.

A closer look at Syria

Within the scope of the event, “Looking Closer: Syria,” organized in collaboration with the Hamisch Istanbul Syrian Culture House, a panel discussion will be held on the incidents in the country.

The festival will also show films to commemorate the victims of the mining disaster that took place on May 13 in Manisa’s Soma district. Films focusing on the lives of miners have been added to the festival program.

“Working Man’s Death” by Michael Glawogger, recently deceased, “The Devil’s Miner,” which focuses on child miners in Bolivia and “The Miners’ Hymns,” which tells the melancholic story of miners in England, are among the films in this section titled “For Soma.”

The French Culture Center, SALT Beyoğlu and Aynalıgeçit will be the venues hosting the event.
