Prominent intellectuals from Europe, the United States, the Arab world and Turkey will gather Thursday and Friday for a conference focusing on the future of the Arab Spring.

The conference, “Transitioning Dictatorship to Democracy: Workshops in Best Practices and Insight Sharing,” will be organized by the Turkish Prime Ministry’s Public Diplomacy Office and Washington, D.C.-based Georgetown University’s Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding, or ACMCU.

The meeting – hosted by İbrahim Kalın, director of Turkish Prime Ministry’s Office of Public Diplomacy and senior advisor to the prime minister, and John L. Esposito, founding director of Georgetown University’s ACMCU – aims to assess the current situation in the Arab world, set new goals for the future, and identify ways to get there.

The workshops will draw on the expertise and experience of political and social players such as Tunisian Ennahda Party leader Rashid Ghannouchi, Egyptian presidential candidate Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh, and Egyptian writer and journalist Fahmi Houveydi.
