Turkey’s construction cost index (CCI) jumped slightly more than 23 percent in May from the same month of the previous year, according to official data, mainly due to the rise in both material and labor costs.

The index increased by 2.95 compared with the previous month, according to data by the Turkish Statistical institute (TÜİK) on July 30.

The material index increased by 4.01 percent and the labor index increased by 0.58 percent compared with the previous month.

In comparison to the previous year, the material index also increased by 26.58 percent and the labor index increased by 15.63 percent.

The building construction cost index increased by 2.60 percent compared with the previous month and by 21.84 percent compared with May 2017. The material index increased by 3.57 percent and the labor index increased by 0.52 percent compared with April.

The material index compared with the previous year increased by 24.98 percent and the labor index increased by 15.46 percent.

The construction cost index for civil engineering, increased by 4.06 percent monthly and by 27.04 percent compared to May 2017.

The material index increased by 5.38 percent and the labor index increased by 0.77 percent compared with the previous month.

Compared with the previous year, the material index increased by 31.74 percent and the labor index increased by 16.28 percent.
