Kanat Emiroğlu, Chairman of Global Energy, has noted both parties reached a tentative agreement for a possible partnership in the facility in the southeastern province.

Global Energy, a fully-owned subsidiary of Global Holding, announces it has reached a preliminary agreement with Akkök Group for the partial transfer of ownership in the 270-MW power plant in the southeastern province of Şırnak.

Kanat Emiroğlu, the Chairman of Global Energy, noted that both parties had reached a tentative agreement for a possible partnership in the power plant.

The project stands out as a key generation facility in Southeast Turkey, and is also one of the major private sector investments in the region. The plant will supply power to the energy-intensive industries in the area by using the region’s rich asphaltite reserves. When operational, the power plant can facilitate the export of electricity to the neighboring countries.

Creating new jobs in the region

”Akkök is one of the most significant electricity producers in the country as well as being a sizeable industrial consumer. Additionally, their experience in running complicated EPC contracts and expertise in retail, trading and generation parts of the energy value chain were critical in our selection process,” he said.

The Şırnak power plant will be among the most efficient power producers in the country, he noted. And the plant is expected to be one of the largest industrial development in the region, providing hundreds of new jobs in the region.
